Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribi Esq., together with the Central Gonja District Chief Executive, has embarked on a working visit to two prominent traditional areas within the Central Gonja District. The purpose of the visit was to engage traditional leaders and local communities in dialogue, discuss development priorities, and strengthen collaborative efforts.

The first stop of the delegation was at the palace of the Kusawgu Wura, Paramount Chief of the Kusawgu Traditional Area. In a warm and cordial reception, the Kusawgu Wura appealed to the Minister to advocate for the creation of a new district with Kusawgu as its capital. He further highlighted the urgent need for potable drinking water and the establishment of a technical senior high school to enhance human capital development in the area.

In response, Hon. Bi-Awuribi expressed his appreciation for the reception and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the development aspirations of the community. “As a son of the land, I am committed to working closely with the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive to ensure the Kusawgu Traditional Area receives its fair share of national development,” he said.

The Minister and his entourage subsequently visited the Tuluwe Traditional Area, where a similar engagement was held with the Tuluwe-Wura and his elders. The Tuluwe-Wura echoed the call for the creation of a new district from the Central Gonja District to enhance local governance and development. He also stressed the need for improvements to the road connecting Tuluwe and Kusawgu to facilitate mobility and economic activity. Additionally, he appealed for increased agricultural support and the upgrading of the Chama and Tuluwe CHPS compounds into full health centers to better serve the farming-based population.

The day’s events concluded with the commissioning of an ultra-modern Jumah Mosque in Tuluwe, constructed by Sharjah Charity International. Hon. Bi-Awuribi joined traditional leaders and residents for a communal Friday prayer to inaugurate the new religious facility.

This working visit underscores the Regional Minister’s unwavering dedication to inclusive, grassroots-led development and his commitment to working hand-in-hand with traditional authorities to drive meaningful progress across the Savannah Region.
