Mpaha, Savannah Region – May 24, 2025

The Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribi, Esq., as part of his regional tour, visited the Debre Traditional Area where he engaged with chiefs and residents in a bid to deepen community relations and assess pressing developmental needs.

Accompanied by the Central Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE) and some constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the minister was warmly received by a spirited crowd at Mpaha.

During a durbar held in his honour, the Debre-Wura made a passionate appeal for the Mpaha Clinic to be upgraded to a polyclinic, citing the urgent need to enhance healthcare delivery in the area. The chief also highlighted the devastating impact of recent rainstorms which damaged classroom blocks at Mpaha Community Senior High School and Mpaha TI Ahmadiyya Junior High School. He called on the minister to expedite the renovation of the affected facilities. Additionally, the chief urged the construction of the road linking Mpaha Junction to Kikali Number Four to ease the transportation of goods and people.

In a timely intervention, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, announced funding support through the DCE to rehabilitate the storm-damaged senior high school structures.

Responding to the community’s concerns, Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribi expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Debre for their unwavering support for the NDC. He directed the DCE to complete all necessary procurement processes within a week to begin the renovation of the affected classroom blocks. The minister also instructed that students should plant trees around the school premises to serve as windbreaks and mitigate future storm damage.

Reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to grassroots development, Hon. Bi-Awuribi emphasized that former President Mahama’s second coming is focused on improving the lives of ordinary Ghanaians. He assured residents that their developmental needs would be addressed and pledged to make such visits routine to bring governance closer to the people.
