Rap Kodji and Daanga win quadruple awards at maiden Savannah Music Awards

The maiden Savannah Regiion Music Awards(SMA) was held in Damongo with lots of intriguing awards won by various artists in the region.

Saturday, 29th January, 2022 was a special day for all the artists in the region because history was made.

Twenty-one (21) awards were awarded to musicians and DJ’s. Musicians such as, Baslite, Rap Kodji, Biyanto, NBF, B.Babs, Daanga, Golden, Currency, Magnet, Shasha, Zabaga, Shadow Guy Gya, and DJ No Limit, all picked home one or more awards.

The overall artist of the year 2021 went to a Daboya based musician Golden Daboholic. He took home Ghc1,100, a wall clock and fan.

Two artists, Daanga from Damongo-Canteen and Rap Kodji from Daboya in the north Gonja district, won the most awards, winning four (4) categories each on that faithful night; it was amazing and Wonderful.

High profile persons such as chiefs across Savannah region, staff from A Rocha Ghana, Mole motel, management of musicians across the region, staff of Ghana fire Service, Queen Boresah (Nkilgiwurche). Others are workers of Waga Collections, Blessed child electrical, NDESCO assistant headmaster, hon Assembly Members.

The chairman of the occasion Chief Farguwura Adam Jakpa Yakubu, a sub chief of Busunu traditional area, commended the organizers for the bold step taken in organizing the awards.

He urged the industry actors to be courageous in order to rise and attract more fans.

“If you want to join or enter the entertainment industry, you must master the courage, the zeal and be well prepared to produce meaningful songs because music is a great business and also food for the soul. Due to the competition in the industry, actors must link up with one another to help them flourish in the sector”.

Chief Adam Jakpa said music awards have a great impact on the music industry. This is a proud moment for every artist’s professional music career.These awards will help the Savannah musicians to remain more focused and dedicated to their music career as musicians.

Awards motivate, encourage and keep lighting up the life of musicians, industry players and entertainers as well. It also clearly shows how massively you are loved in the industry.

One should never feel disappointed if he/she couldn’t win because in every competition, only one person is crowned a winner but it doesn’t mean the rest are not capable. Don’t forget without competition in the system, less can be achieved. Nominating you alone is a plus, he added.

He asked for God’s blessings for the organizers, sponsors and anyone that helped to see the success of the program (SMA2021).

19.Male vocalist – Daanga

20.Traditional Artiste – Rap Kodji
