IGP directs Savannah regional police command to work with a victim of police assault

Damongo November 22, 2024 – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has directed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to work closely with the family of a victim of police brutality in the Sawla Tuna Kalba district of the Savannah region.
This was contained in a police statement following interdiction with immediate effect, of Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, who was stationed at Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, for professional misconduct.

“The IGP has reached out to the family of the victim and offered assurance of support. The IGP has accordingly directed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to work with the family in this regard”.

The Ghana Police Service has interdicted with immediate effect Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, for professional misconduct, the statement added.

The Police officer was sighted in a viral video assaulting a member of the public.
His interdiction is to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with Police Service Regulations.
