Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I), Paramount Chief of Mankpan Traditional Area, has taken the oath of office as a Member of the National House of Chiefs. This prestigious position solidifies his role in promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and advancing the interests of Mankpan, Gonja and the Chieftaincy institution.
Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I) brings a wealth of experience to the National House of Chiefs, having served as Chairman of the Research and Traditional Affairs Committee for the Savannah Region House of Chiefs. His expertise will undoubtedly enrich the deliberations of the National House of Chiefs.
He is among five distinguished Paramount Chiefs who are members elected from the Savannah Region House of Chiefs to represent the region. The other members include Kpembewura Banbange Ndefoso IV, Vice President of the Savannah Region House of Chiefs; Buipewura Jinapor II, President of Buipe Traditional Council and newly elected Vice President of the National House of Chiefs; Kikpandewura Kanyiti (II), Paramount Chief of Kikpande Traditional Area; and Kongwura Jinkurige (I), Paramount Chief of Kong Traditional Area.
The National House of Chiefs plays a vital role in Ghana’s governance structure, exercising appellate jurisdiction in chieftaincy matters and advising on customary law and traditional affairs. Some of the key functions of the House include;
Promoting Customary Law: Compiling, interpreting, and codifying customary laws to ensure their relevance and consistency.
Dispute Resolution: Resolving chieftaincy disputes and advising on matters affecting traditional areas.
Cultural Preservation: Safeguarding Ghana’s rich cultural heritage by promoting traditional practices and customs.
