In a fiery speech delivered in Damongo, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, has thrown down the gauntlet at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), questioning their pledge to implement a 24-hour economy if elected.
The Damongo Mp criticized the NDC at an event marking his confirmation as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Damongo on Saturday, 17th February,2024.
Hon. Abu Jinapor lambasted the NDC for their track record during their tenure, particularly citing the pervasive issue of erratic power supply, known as “Dumso,” which plagued the nation’s businesses and industries.
He highlighted the detrimental impact on various sectors, including tailoring, welding, carpentry, and mechanics, asserting that the NDC’s failure to address this fundamental issue hindered economic activity during daylight hours.
The MP’s criticism stems from recent campaign promises by the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, who vowed to usher in a 24-hour economy to alleviate economic burdens.
Mr. Jinapor’s skepticism regarding the feasibility of such a pledge underscores the lingering discontent over the NDC’s past governance and their ability to deliver on ambitious promises.
The Damongo lawmaker further contextualized the economic landscape, emphasizing the importance of embracing technological advancements such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), digitization, and digitalization. He positioned these innovations as pivotal for Ghana’s economic progression, aligning with the NPP’s vision for a Fourth Revolution centered on digitization.
Urging support for himself as the parliamentary candidate and Dr. Bawumia as the presidential candidate, Mr. Jinapor rallied the people of the Savannah region to embrace the vision of digitization.
He framed the upcoming December elections as a pivotal moment to propel Ghana into a new era of prosperity.
As the political landscape intensifies in the lead-up to the elections, Jinapor’s critique serves as a reminder of the electorate’s scrutiny of campaign promises and the imperative for tangible solutions to address the nation’s economic challenges.
