The Concerned Youth of Hon Kiyoyo Zambache have voiced strong concerns regarding alleged irregularities in the vetting and shortlisting of candidates for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the West Gonja Municipality. At a press conference
Convened by Mr. Malik Banye on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025 criticized the process, claiming it was compromised to disqualify Hon Kiyoyo Zambache.

Allegations of Bias and Manipulation
The youth group revealed that their intelligence suggests the shortlisting process was predetermined to exclude Hon Kiyoyo, citing two main reasons:1
- Threat to Other Candidates: They believe Hon Kiyoyo posed a strong challenge to a favored candidate, particularly at the regional and national levels.
- Factional Politics: Hon Kiyoyo was reportedly sidelined due to perceived alignment with Alhaji Muniru Limuna and Lawyer Baba Sadique Zankawah—two notable figures of the NDC—rather than the camp of Hon Garlus. The group argued that associating with prominent NDC members should not be grounds for disqualification and criticized the vetting committee for bias.
Hon Kiyoyo’s Contributions to the NDC
Highlighting Hon Kiyoyo’s extensive contributions, the group recounted his journey from grassroots activism as a polling station executive to his current role as Constituency Communication Officer. They noted his resilience during the 2020 elections, where he played a pivotal role in defending the party’s interests amidst significant challenges.

“Hon Kiyoyo is a household name in the Damongo constituency due to his dedication, hard work, and love for the NDC,” the group emphasized. They also praised his integrity, stating that no credible allegations of misconduct or corruption have ever been proven against him.
Concerns Over Vetting Committee Composition
The youth group questioned the fairness of the vetting committee, claiming that six of its members were aligned with Hon Garlus and had previously opposed Hon Kiyoyo during constituency elections. Despite these odds, Hon Kiyoyo emerged victorious in those elections with the highest votes.

They believe the committee’s alleged bias influenced the shortlisting process, further fueling suspicions of a predetermined outcome.
Call to Action
The group called on the NDC leadership, including President John Dramani Mahama, to ensure transparency and fairness in the final appointment process. They expressed confidence that the president would select the most qualified candidate, which they believe is Hon Mumuni Yahaya Kiyoyo Zambache.
“We encourage everyone to condemn the biased nature of the constituency shortlisting process. This lack of fairness must be addressed,” the group stated.
The Concerned Youth assured supporters that they would explore all legitimate avenues to seek redress while urging calm and patience among the NDC faithful.
