The Paramount chief and President of the Buipe Traditional Council Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II on Wednesday, 21st June, 2023 held a soccer soirée with all 7 District and municipal FA chairmen in the savannah region.
Interacting with the Football Association officials at a one day Football soirée at Buipe, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II assured his commitment to help promote sports in the savannah region.
He explained the many benefits that comes with sports, adding that it brings people together as a family irrespective of their tribal and religious background and also helps in the promotion of good behaviours for a better society just like the many other sports disciplaines that are played in the communities.
He further mentioned some benefits of sports including the promotion of culture, job Creation, entertainment and brings development to the society and therefore used the opportunity to appeal to the various paramouncies to help in the development of sporting facilities in their areas.
He later tasked the seven Municipal and District FA Chairmen to put together football teams from their respective districts for them start preparations towards his 15th anniversary celebrations as the paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area.
He also disclosed that as part of activities marking his anniversary, sports will be an integral part of the activities and as such, the sports committee of the anniversary will be come out with very juicy prizes to winners of the competition.
The West Gonja Municipal Football Association Chairman, Mr Sumani Iddrisu known as Action, on behalf of his colleagues commended the initiative of the Buipewura and described it as worth emulating across the Savannah Region.
He said the initiative of the Buipewura will encourage the growth of football in the Region which will lead to the development of football in the Savannah Region.
He added that the football system in the Savannah Region will soon pickup with lots of potentials and therefore appealed for the support of all stakeholders in the region.
He also mentioned the problems of football pitches and other logistics as some of the major problems facing the football fraternity in the Savannah Region and therefore appealed for the adoption of the various football clubs in the region by organisations to help the growth of football in all the districts.
Meanwhile, Buipewura Jinapor has hinted that some prominent persons in football including players of the national team, some top football coaches and the Minister of Youth ane Sports would be in Buipe to witness the gala competition during the anniversary.
