Iddrisu Abdul-Rahman, a former two-term Assembly Member and current NDC Constituency Organizer for Damongo, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Damongo Constituency when nominations open.
In a declaration copied to this source, Abdul-Rahman said his decision follows extensive consultations with party elders, constituency executives, branch and ward leaders, grassroots activists and other stakeholders.

He described his latest political ambition as another opportunity to serve the party, emphasizing that his journey within the NDC has been defined by service, loyalty and commitment to the grassroots.
Abdul-Rahman enters the contest with considerable experience in both local governance and party organization.
His record of service includes:
• Two-term Assembly Member from 2015 to 2023;
• Chairman of the Justice and Security Sub-Committee;
• Chairman of the Agriculture Sub-Committee;
• Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee;
• Two-term Chairman of the Damongo Zonal Council;
• Savannah Regional PRO of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members from 2019 to 2023;
• NDC Damongo Constituency Deputy Organizer from 2018 to 2022; and
• NDC Damongo Constituency Organizer from 2023 to the present.
According to Abdul-Rahman, these years of experience have reinforced his conviction that the strength of the NDC depends heavily on the effectiveness of its grassroots structures.
“Our party is only as strong as its grassroots and the structures that hold us together,” he stated.
If elected Constituency Secretary, Abdul-Rahman says his administration will be guided by three central principles: Records, Results and Respect.
Under Records, he promises to strengthen documentation and institutional memory within the constituency, maintain updated branch and membership records, and improve communication and information flow between branches and constituency leadership.
His Results agenda focuses on building stronger and more active branches, improving coordination across electoral areas and polling stations, ensuring that party decisions translate into action and accountability, and commencing early preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
On Respect, Abdul-Rahman pledges to promote a party culture in which every member matters, while respecting party elders and giving greater voice to women, youth and grassroots members.
He also emphasized the importance of consultation, inclusion and unity at every level of the constituency.
A major theme of Abdul-Rahman’s declaration is the need for the NDC to begin its preparations for 2028 well ahead of the election year.
He argued that the party must strengthen its structures and grassroots organization now rather than waiting until the election season.
“2028 will not be won in 2028. The work must begin now,” he stressed, calling for stronger branches, sustained grassroots engagement and unity within the constituency.
Abdul-Rahman believes his progression through various roles within the NDC has prepared him for the position he is now seeking.
He pointed to his previous service as Deputy Organizer and his current role as Constituency Organizer as evidence of his experience in party mobilization and grassroots organization.
As he formally signals his intention to contest, Abdul-Rahman is appealing to delegates and party members for their prayers, support and votes.
He says his objective is to help build a more organized, accountable and united constituency structure capable of delivering electoral success in 2028.
He concluded his declaration with a call for collective purpose:
“One Party. One Constituency. One Purpose.”
For Abdul-Rahman, the campaign for Constituency Secretary is ultimately about strengthening the NDC from the grassroots upward — with Records. Results. Respect. as the guiding principles.
