Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, has donated anti-snake venom to support the treatment of snakebite victims in the constituency.
The intervention follows growing concerns over an alarming rise in snakebite cases, particularly in farming and rural communities, where residents frequently come into contact with snakes in the course of their daily activities.
According to the constituency communication office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the donation was also prompted by concerns over the high cost of anti-snake venom vials, which has reportedly made it difficult for some victims and their families to access the life-saving medication.
This is the second donation of anti-snake venom by the MP this year, underscoring his continued efforts to address the health challenges confronting residents of the Damongo Constituency.
Lawyer Jinapor has appealed to health authorities and institutions responsible for the distribution of medicines to ensure that the donated anti-snake venom is made available to all persons who require it.
He stressed that access to healthcare and the preservation of human life should transcend political affiliations, urging that the antidote be released and administered based solely on medical need.
The MP’s intervention is expected to help save lives while reducing the financial burden on families whose loved ones require treatment following snakebites.
