On Monday, 17th February, 2025, Salisu Bi-awurbe Isifu Esq, Savannah regional minister said President John Mahama led administration will start an ‘irrigation for wealth’ program to promote farming and related activities in the country. The initiative, the brainchild of the President, aims at boosting availability of food in the country.
As such, Savannah region will benefit from this initiative from John Mahama’s administration with initial site inspection and recommendation expected to be conducted between 18th and 20th February 2025, in communities such as Kibilma, Sonyo, Lamisa, Lorto, Kabreji, among others expected to benefit from the initiative.
The regional minister is expected to visit the proposed sites with officers from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Salisu Bi-awurbe also, officially informed Jira Yagbonwura BiiKunuto Jewu Soale I of the appointment of Chief Mankpanwura Achode Jakpa Borenyi I and the subsequent swearing-in ceremony to be held in Accra on Tuesday 18th February, 2025, for Members of the Council of State.
Salisu Bi-awurbe Isifu Esq assured the Overlord that he will work closely with the Jakpa Palace to execute the developmental agenda of the Savannah region and also, provide recommendations as contained in the laws to help water down Chieftaincy and land disputes in the area, when call upon.
The minister visited the Jakpa Palace together with all heads of aecurity agencies, some heads of department, NDC party leadership and other stakeholders.
