A long-serving stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Musah Salfu, popularly known as “Gbangbanlui,” has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Regional 2nd Vice Chairman of the party in the Savannah Region.
Announcing his bid under the campaign motto, “Experience You Can Trust. Energy You Can Feel,” the veteran politician appealed to delegates, elders, youth, and party faithful to rally behind his vision of rebuilding and strengthening the NPP in the region ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In his declaration, Musah Salfu described himself as a committed member of the NPP since 1992, emphasizing more than three decades of loyalty, sacrifice, and dedicated service to the party.
He recalled his emergence as a potential parliamentary aspirant in 1996 but said he sacrificed his personal ambition in the interest of party unity when the NPP entered into an alliance with the CPP, a move that paved the way for the late Hon. Alex Sofo.
Highlighting his political journey, the aspiring regional executive outlined several leadership positions he has held within the party and local governance structures. These include serving as the first Coordinator for the Lingbinsi Electoral Area, first 1st Vice Chairman for the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency for two consecutive terms, and the first Middle Belt indigene elected as Presiding Member of the North Gonja District Assembly.
He also noted his role as Acting Chairman of the Council of Elders and as leader of the party across the Middle Belt area of the Savannah Region, where he said he helped mobilize and strengthen grassroots structures.
According to him, his ambition is driven by a desire to promote unity, strengthen party organization from the polling station level to the regional hierarchy, and position the NPP for electoral victory in future elections.
“The time for tested leadership is now. The man for the job is ready,” he declared while calling on party delegates to entrust him with the mandate.
Musah Salfu further stressed that the NPP remains stronger through unity and collective effort, adding that his experience and grassroots connection make him well-positioned to serve the Savannah Region effectively as Regional 2nd Vice Chairman.
His declaration has already begun generating discussions among party supporters and political observers within the Savannah Region as internal preparations toward the party’s regional elections gather momentum.
