Education stakeholders in the Savannah region of Ghana have convened a crucial forum aimed at addressing examination malpractice and promoting integrity within the education sector.
The meeting brought together education officials, school heads, teachers, parents, security agencies, and community leaders to deliberate on practical measures to safeguard the credibility of academic assessments.
Participants expressed concern over the growing incidents of examination malpractice, describing it as a threat to quality education and the future of students.

Speakers at the forum emphasized the need for collective responsibility, urging teachers to uphold professional ethics, students to avoid dishonest practices, and parents to discourage any form of support that promotes cheating. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening supervision during examinations and enforcing strict sanctions against offenders.

The forum concluded with a strong commitment from stakeholders to intensify public education, improve monitoring mechanisms, and foster a culture of honesty and discipline in schools.
Savannah Regional Education Director Bright A Lawoe noted that “maintaining integrity in education is key to producing competent graduates and ensuring that certificates awarded truly reflect students’ abilities. This is the reason we brought together all stakeholders; Parents, teachers, students, traditional and religious leaders, security, among others”.
The students particularly heard all about the consequences of engaging in malpractice, when you get involved in exam malractices, you are not a winner because your examination result can be cancelled and in the future you may be found wanting.
You can be barred from taking public exams for a number of years, he emphasized.

He assured the public that the Savannah regional office will intensify monitoring and supervision to make sure schools are not involved in exams malpractices during the upcoming BECE and WASSCE periods.
