Day Four of the Savannah Regional Minister’s Developmental Tour: Strategic Meetings in Accra to Boost Education and Youth Employment
As part of his ongoing developmental tour, the Hon. Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe,esq, on day four of his itinerary, engaged with key development partners in Accra to lobby for critical infrastructure and support for the Savannah Region.
The Minister’s first visit was to the office of the Acting Executive Director of the VALCO Trust Fund, where he appealed for assistance in the provision of furniture, classroom blocks, and hostel facilities to enhance teaching and learning in the region. In response, the Executive Director pledged VALCO Trust Fund’s readiness to support quality education, revealing plans for a nationwide construction of multi-purpose libraries, with the Savannah Region identified as one of the beneficiaries.

Hon. Be-Awuribe,esq, also met with the Director of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training), advocating for the absorption of existing technical and vocational institutions in the Savannah Region under the TVET umbrella. He further presented a proposal for the establishment of new technical and vocational institutions in key communities, including Salaga, Abrumasey, Mankarigu, Yapei, Kusawgu, Chama, Kpalbe, and Tuna.
The tour also took the Minister to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Scholarship Secretariat, where he held discussions on improving access to funding and scholarship opportunities for students from the Savannah Region.
In a strategic meeting with the CEO of the National Youth Employment Authority (YEA), Hon. Be-Awuribe commended the CEO for the effective revival and management of youth employment initiatives. He emphasized the need for the Authority to reactivate stalled programmes that were mismanaged under the previous administration. The CEO, in turn, assured the Minister of new upcoming youth-focused projects aimed at providing decent employment opportunities across the country, including the Savannah Region.
The Minister’s tour continues tomorrow, with further engagements planned to accelerate socio-economic development across the region.
