On Thursday, 11th May, 2023, the Savannah Regional Education Directorate led by it’s regional director, Hajia Katumi Nagtomah Attah and some officers from the regional and municipal Education Directorates paid a courtesy visit to the King of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I at his residence in Damongo.
The visit according to Hajia Katumi Nagtomah Attah, was for the directorate to pay homage to the king and also familiarise with him.
She stated that, the education directorate has sent several messages to inform the king about their intended visit to him but were unable to do so due to some other activities that came their way, explaining that they were extremely happy with the way the king received them even as they failed to visit him earlier as planned.
On behalf of the education directorate, Hajia Katumi promised not to disappoint the king in the discharge of their duties and also assured that, they will work assiduously to ensure the improvement of education in the savannah region to bring glory to his regime as king.
She also appealed to the Yagbonwura to support them with his blessings and also see them as people working to uplift the image of education in Savannah, noting that, it is only through education that a country or town can see development and progression.
She further assured the king that, their doors are widely opened and ever ready to listen to him whenever the need arises especially when it has to do with their job as education officers.
Finally, the regional education director indicated that, they will continue to pray for long life for the King and also for God to grant him the wisdom, knowledge and patience to be able to handle them as his children.
She also promised that, they will from time to time visit the palace to brief him on their activities as far as education is concerned.
The Yagbonwura on his part, appreciated the recognition done him as father of the land and further thanked the team for the visit.
The king also appealed for more collaborations between the Chieftaincy institution and the education directorate to foster the development of education in the area.
