(Buipe) – The Central Gonja district of the Savannah region has confirmed President Akuffo-Addo’s nominee as the District Chief Executive for the area with 100% yes votes.

All the 43 hon. Assembly Members voted yes for hon. Salia Iddrisu Kamara on Saturday, October 2, 2021. This brings to three (3) the total number of nominees approved with 100% votes in the Savannah region.

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Daboya in the North Gonja district, hon. Eliasu Adam (Red Bawa) and Musah Kusubari Karim of West Gonja municipal assembly were comfirmed with 100% yes votes.

And this feet is very satisfactory to the Savannah regional minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, that three (3) out of the seven (7) Municipal and district assemblies in the region have had their DCEs with no confusion.

Addressing the press on Saturday October 2, 2021, after the Central Gonja district ceremony, hon. Jibril Muhazu Jegede said the good message his outfit to all the Assembly Members, Chiefs and other stakeholders is clear, we need to speed up development.

“The people of Savannah region are ready for development irrespective of their political affiliation, we also links up well with all the stakeholders including NDC MPs in the region for us to speed up development”.

Hon Jegede said he will be the happiest of all the regional ministers if the remaining four (4) assemblies; East Gonja, North East Gonja, Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba assemblies gave the nominees confirmation with 100% votes. He is linking up with all to get the nominees are comfirmed.

“I’m linking up to all the Members of Parliament in the region to help talk to the Hon Assembly Members to approve the nominees because the assemblies are currently not functioning well without DCEs. Currently, development at the various assemblies is not progressing as expected, as a result of the delay in appointing MDCEs”.

He appealed to the remaining assemblies to vote 100% yes to confirm the the nominees for development.

Meanwhile, ex DCE under the erstwhile John Mahama administration hon. Mumuni Shiraz in a congratulatory message to the DCE for Central Gonja, said the challenge of accessible roads in the district needs to be given immediate attention since the roads will open up the area and improve agriculture, income and reduce poverty.
Portable drinking water and others must also be tackled with immediate effect.

He disclosed that his administration as a DCE saw the assembly drilled 43 boreholes but only two (2) had water and therefore appealed to the DCE to adopt new approaches to get water for the people.
