The continuous initiative by the North Gonja District Assembly to distribute dual desks to schools in the district is one that’s commendable.
The decision is a timely and impactful intervention in the education sector following the distribution of dual desks to schools within the Daboya Circuit. This will undoubtedly improve hygiene for school children.
The initiative led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdulai Nashiru, demonstrates the Assembly’s commitment to improving teaching and learning conditions across the district. The provision of desks to basic schools will not only help address the persistent furniture deficit in classrooms but also create a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

The assembly must be commended for prioritizing education and investing in infrastructure that directly supports academic work. Access to adequate classroom furniture plays a vital role in enhancing concentration, improving participation, and promoting better learning outcomes among schoolchildren.
The Assembly’s decision to begin the exercise in the Daboya Circuit while assuring that the intervention will continue to other educational circuits in subsequent phases is one that is assuring. The move is encouraging and one that reflects leadership’s commitment to equitable development throughout the district.
The appreciation expressed by the North Gonja District Education Directorate during the presentation signifies a deep sense of relief to the Education Directorate in North Gonja District and the closed collaboration between the Assembly and education stakeholders remains essential in promoting quality education in the district.

I therefore urged all stakeholders, including community leaders, parents, youth groups, and education authorities, to continue supporting such initiatives to ensure that every child in North Gonja has access to a safe and enabling learning environment.
I concluded by applauding Hon. Abdulai Nashiru and the North Gonja District Assembly for the gesture and encouraged them to sustain efforts aimed at strengthening educational development across the district.
The standards of education in the district is one of the poorest in the Savannah region of Ghana and all initiatives geared toward improving education at all levels.
