The MTN Ghana Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming lives through education after several beneficiaries of its flagship Bright Scholarship programme emerged as valedictorians and top award winners at their respective tertiary institutions.
The Foundation celebrated eight exceptional scholars whose academic achievements have become a testament to the impact of sustained investment in talented but financially disadvantaged students across the country.

The scholars, who excelled in various disciplines at different tertiary institutions, were honoured for their resilience, determination and academic excellence during a special gathering organised by the Foundation.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, praised the graduates for turning opportunity into remarkable achievement.

“What you have achieved is not simply the result of intelligence; it is a testament to your tenacity. We are incredibly proud of each one of you, and we want you to carry this momentum forward. Excellence should not be a destination; it must become a way of life,” she stated.
She noted that the scholars’ journeys from modest beginnings to academic distinction reflect the core objective of the MTN Bright Scholarship initiative — empowering young people to overcome barriers and realise their full potential.

According to her, MTN Ghana remains committed to supporting the scholars beyond their university education.
“You belong in every room you walk into. With discipline, resilience and purpose, there is no ceiling to what you can achieve. MTN Ghana stands with you not only as a supporter of your education, but as a stakeholder in your future,” she added.
The event also offered the beneficiaries an opportunity to share personal stories of perseverance and transformation.
One of the scholarship selection panellists, Mr. Daniel Boateng, described the application process for the latest cohort as highly competitive, citing the exceptional quality of candidates nationwide.
“The calibre of applicants for this cohort was extraordinary. It was one of the most demanding reviews we have undertaken, and it reinforced the depth of untapped talent that exists across the country,” he said.
Mr. Boateng revealed that the Foundation increased the number of scholarships awarded after being inspired by the remarkable potential demonstrated by applicants.
Among the beneficiaries honoured was Issahaku Hamdia, a graduate of the University for Development Studies, who completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with distinction.
Sharing her experience, she said the scholarship changed not only her financial circumstances but also her confidence and outlook on life.

“When I first heard about the scholarship, I was not sure I stood a chance. But MTN believed in me before I fully believed in myself. That belief changed everything,” she recounted.
She described the MTN Bright Scholarship as a life-changing opportunity and urged the Foundation to continue investing in students from underserved communities.
The MTN Bright Scholarship programme remains a key component of the MTN Ghana Foundation’s education pillar and is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most impactful private-sector interventions in tertiary education.
Through the initiative, the Foundation continues to support academically gifted students with demonstrated financial need, helping to nurture a new generation of skilled and motivated graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
MTN Ghana says it remains committed to using education as a tool for social transformation and creating lasting impact through initiatives that empower young people to rise above circumstance.
