Jira Biikunuto Jewu Soale I, Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom has commended his brother Ndan Ya-Naa Abubakari II over the latter’s historic return visit to the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.
Jira Yagbonwura BiiKunuto said the visit will afford greater opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, economic, security, education, peace, and development challenges.

Jira Yagbonwura Biikunuto Jewu said this during the return visit of Ya-Naa to the Jakpa Palace on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Jira Yagbonwura BiiKunuto Jewu Soale I was the first to visit Ya-Naa in June 2024.

Kpebewura Ndefoso Bangbagne IV read Yagbonwura BiiKunuto’s speech. He added that The visit marks a significant moment in fostering good relationships and strengthening bonds between the Kingdoms

He said “the historic visit will afford us an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest, economic development, security, education, and the advancement of our youth. We will explore how we can align our resources and strengths in a way that will uplift both kingdoms.
By investing in our people and cultivating their potential, we can create a legacy that will be felt for generations to come”.

Jira Yagbonwura BiiKunuto Jewu Soale I further added that “as leaders we must also be conscious of the societal challenges we face today, including conflicts, economic disparities, and the impact of climate change. By coming together, sharing ideas, and engaging in constructive dialogue, we can develop effective strategies to address these challenges while preserving the rich tapestry of our cultural identities”.

The future of our two great Kingdoms rests firmly in the hands of our youth. As Chiefs, our efforts in leadership will be greatly enhanced moving forward if the leadership of the Gonjaland Youth Association and the Dagbon Youth come together to establish an annual meeting. This platform will provide an opportunity to discuss and resolve issues that hinder development while fostering social cohesion, unity, and peace between our communities.

“To the youth leadership present here today, I urge a swift response to this proposal. Together, we can create meaningful change and drive the development of both Kingdoms forward. Your engagement and collaboration are crucial as we work towards a brighter future for our people”.

Kpembewura Bangbagne IV
