A devastating fire has gutted a seven-room house at Ngbaripe, reducing personal belongings and valuable properties to ashes in the early hours of Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The unfortunate incident occurred while occupants of the house were outside leaving residents in shock and distress as flames tore through the building. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the emergency call, arriving at the scene within three minutes to combat the raging blaze.

Despite their prompt intervention and determined efforts to control the fire, the inferno caused extensive damage, destroying household items and leaving the structure severely affected.
According to the Municipal Fire Commander, preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. He added that further investigations are underway to conclusively determine the exact cause of the outbreak.

The property is owned by Mr. Alhassan Inusah, who resides outside the municipality. However, his wife, mother, and other family members who are occupants of the house were not in the house at the time of the incident. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported, but the emotional and material loss has left the family traumatized.

The Assemblyman for the area, Hon. Gorden Kumatey who visited the scene to assess the extent of destruction, expressed deep concern over the incident. He appealed to the appropriate authorities and benevolent individuals to come to the aid of the affected family during this difficult time.
He also commended officers of the Ghana National Fire Service for their rapid response, noting that their swift action prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes, which could have resulted in an even greater disaster.

Residents of Ngbaripe have since rallied around the family, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the dangers posed by electrical faults and the importance of fire safety measures in homes.
