Canteen Assemblyman, Boresa Music Collaborate to hold inter-ethnic Dialogue and Peace Forum at Canteen

The office of the Assembly man for the Canteen Electoral Area in collaboration with the Gonjaland Youth Assistant (GLYA) and Boresa music has successfully held an Inter-ethnic Dialogue and Peace Forum for all tribes in the Canteen Electoral Area.

The event which saw the attendance of all tribes in the canteen electoral area was held at the canteen market on Sunday, 12th March,2023.

The Assembly man for the canteen electoral area, Hon. Abraham Ananpansah in an address explained how modern politics has affected the oneness that existed among the canteen people in the past, thereby making it a bit difficult for them to come together to work for the development of the area.

He further explain that , gone were the days when the people of canteen used to come together for communal labour and cultural display activities that were geared towards the unity and development of the Canteen Electoral Area.

He stated that, the event witnessed is meant for them to brainstorm on how to bring back and reinstate what existed in the area before.

He said gone were the days when the strength of an electoral area lies on three key people which includes the Assemblyman, chief and Imam with the support of opinion leaders but said, today things have changed with the influence of politics.

He assured that as an Assembly man for the area, he will work with them to bring back the lost glory of oneness among the canteen people to enhance the development of the area.

He noted with concern that there is the need for them to embrace unity and oneness irrespective of their tribes, where they come from and political background for the development of the area.

The young Assemblyman used the occasion to recount the many effort he was putting in place to improve the lots of the people in areas of health, education,water expansion, women and youth empowerment among others for the betterment of the lives of the people in the canteen electoral area.

He reiterated on the need for the people to remain united, adding that, many have come to serve in many capacities and gone but the community remains where it has always been and that, Unity and togetherness should be paramount to all in the area since we were all one people with common aspirations.

The National Organizer of the Gonjaland Youth Association ( GLYA ), Mr Mbonwura Gbulo expressed gratitude to the canteen Assembly man, Hon. Ananpansah Abraham for how far he has able to bring the people of the canteen electoral area together and his immense contributions to the development of Savannah Region as a whole and said, the event was meant to bring of the people together for the development of Gonjaland and to also enhance peaceful co – existence among the people.

He urged the people to see themselves as one people and not to discriminate against other tribes in the area.

Several speakers including the Canteen Imam, Seidu Iddrisu charged the residents of canteen particularly the youth to desist from acts that will paint a bad image for the area. They reiterated the call by the Assemblyman to remain together and united behind partisan politics for the development of Canteen.

The Imam for instance urged them to be peace loving and law abiding and engage in activities that will help bring development to the area.

Mallam Karim alias Hot Hot praised the Assemblyman for his unique leadership skills and many development projects he was bringing to the area, urging the people of Canteen to continue to support the Assemblyman even to higher heights.
