An Assemblyman hopeful for the Hangaline-Ngbaripe-Alhassankura electoral area in the West Gonja municipality of the savannah Region, Mr. Gorden Kumatey has showed his dedication to local sports by gifting two footballs to two juvenile local teams in his electoral area.
The generous gesture took place after an exciting friendly match between Damongo United SC from Hangaline and Biikunu Rising Stars FC from Alhassankura organized by Kumatey Gorden on Sunday, 5th November, 2023, at the Damongo AstroTurf pitch.
In addition to providing footballs, the Assembly member hopeful also arranged for drinks to refresh the players and their managers.
Addressing the players after the match, Mr. Gorden encouraged the players to take their football careers seriously, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering unity within the electoral area.
He further expressed his commitment to support the two teams if he secures victory in the upcoming Assembly elections set for 19th December, 2023.
He also used the event to appeal to all in the electoral area to support him by joining hands to campaign for him to ensure he secures victory to continue with his good works.
The Assembly member hopeful personally sponsored the event and pledged to continue his support if elected as the people’s representative to the West Gonja Municipal Assembly.
The game ended on 3:4 score against Bikunu rising stars in a penalty shootout.
Notable personalities who honored the invitation of the Assembly man hopeful to grace the occasion were, Mr. Ismael Adam, a youth activist in Damongo, Kanyiti Kantamah Saburu among others.
