The Ghana National Association of Garment makers ( GNAGM) in the Savannah regional capital, Damongo on Sunday, 18th December, 2022 successfully passed 11 apprentices who successfully went through a three years training at four different shops and have passed all the necessary tests organized by the association.
The passing out ceremony was held at the newly constructed Damongo Astro Turf pitch ( Town park ).
The Damongo Zonal Chairman of GNAGM who doubles as the Savannah regional vice chairman of Ghana National tailors and dressmakers Association(GNTDA), Mr. Issah Sumani popularly known as Doctor explained that, the Association carries out mass passing out ceremonies annually to pass out graduands who successful pass their exams and this year’s event is not an exception.
He added that, enrolling your child into apprenticeship is more like enrolling him or her into the formal education sector and therefore urging parents to enroll their wards into tailoring and dress making to help build a better future for them.
The Chairman noted that before now, it was presumed that apprenticeship was meant for persons you are not doing well in school but added that, more professionals from all spheres of life are now venturing into Fashion because of it’s economic impact on their lives and therefore called on all apprentices in the Damongo municipality to be committed to their training so as to be successful dressmakers.
He appreciated the commitment of both Madams and the 11 apprentices who are now graduates during and after their three year of intensive training.
Meanwhile, eight (8) members of the Association had earlier held their passing out ceremonies at their respective mosques of worship on their own request.
He used the occasion to called for unity among the members of the fraternity in the West Gonja Municipality in order to promote their services.
The occasion brought together several members of the Association across the region, key players within the dress making and fashion design industries and was chaired by Chief Abdallah Ahmed Trodompewura
