A leading figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region, Hajia Ubeda Nurudeen, has officially announced her intention to contest for the position of Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer, citing years of grassroots service and a strong commitment to women’s empowerment.
In a formal declaration, Hajia Ubaida said her decision follows extensive consultations with key party stakeholders and encouragement from grassroots members across the region. She emphasized her readiness to lead with humility, experience, and dedication.

Currently serving as the Deputy Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer, she highlighted her active role in party mobilization, electoral monitoring, and regional development efforts. Her track record includes coordinating women-focused groups such as Naada Ladies in Damongo and the Women’s Wing Maidens in the Savannah Region, as well as serving on strategic committees during the 2020 general elections.
Hajia Ubaida also underscored her contributions to election operations, including monitoring the 2024 elections across all communities in the region and supporting logistics across 86 polling stations. She noted her involvement in delivering the NPP’s electoral success in Damongo and her reputation for resilience—earning her comparisons to Hawa Koomson for her bravery on the field.
Beyond elections, she has been part of the regional medical team since 2020 and has worked with the regional youth wing in event planning and organization. She also pointed to her role in advocacy efforts that contributed to the creation of the Savannah Region.
Outlining her vision, Hajia Ubaida pledged to build a vibrant, inclusive, and highly organized women’s wing that will strengthen grassroots mobilization and enhance the party’s electoral fortunes. Her mission focuses on empowering women, improving coordination across party structures, and fostering unity and participation at all levels.
Key priorities of her campaign include expanding women’s participation in politics, establishing functional structures in all constituencies, rolling out mentorship and training programs for young women, and developing welfare systems to support female party members.
Explaining her motivation, Hajia Ubaida said calls from party faithful and her passion for service inspired her decision to contest. “I understand the needs and potential of women across our communities. I offer experience, dedication, and a deep connection with the grassroots,” she stated.
She concluded by appealing to delegates and party members for their support, expressing confidence that, together, they can reposition the women’s wing as a driving force for victory in future elections.
The contest for the Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer position is expected to be keen, as the NPP continues to strengthen its internal structures ahead of upcoming political activities.
