The attention of Yiram, Wasipewura Mumuni Anyame Kabasagya II, Paramount Chief of Wasipe Traditional Area has been drawn to a video, circulating on social media indicating that some settler farmers flee the area for fear of attacks by indigenes. Rightly so, we have the said video in our possession.
This Palace has taken cognisance of the whole content of the video and wish to state that it is orchestrated to destroy the longstanding relationship we have enjoyed with the settler Community in the area.
We have lived in harmony with our settler brothers and sisters in this area for centuries without any major issues.
Our enquiries have proven that any settler farmer who decides to leave this area is part of those who deliberately refused to pay royalties to Yiram, the Wasipewura but choose to pay royalties to Chiefs EVEN outside the Wasipe Traditional Area.
Again. More severely some of these settle farmers have withdrawn their recognition of the Wasipewura as the Allodial title owner of the land on which these settler farmers are farming
We wish to assure the general public that the Palace is at peace with all other tribes in the area and would not do anything untoward to destroy the peaceful co-existence we have enjoyed over the years with them.
