Staff of Mole National Park,  led by it’s Manager, Mahama Ali on Tuesday 11th April, 2023 paid a courtesy call on the newly esnkinned king of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale ( I ) at his palace in Damongo.

The visit was to familiarise themselves with the new king and to congratulate him on his elevation to the highest skin of the Gonja Kingdom.

The Park Manager, Mr. Ali Mahama on behalf of the delegation extended their congratulatory message and felicitations to the king on behalf of the Executive Director of the Wildlife Division of Forestry Commission.

He indicated that the visionary leadership of the former president of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who conceived the idea of safeguarding the land for conservation and touristic purposes, is what helped ensure that the Mole National Park was properly demarcated and and gazetted as a National park to ensure adequate protection and conservation of our natural resources for Gonjaland and also for Ghana as a whole.

The Park Manager also noted that, the support of the overlord and his retinue of elders is critical to the continued development and progress of the park and therefore appealed for his support.

The delegation from the Park presented a beautifully framed photograph of a kob to the King which is a great symbol that is important for the tradition and culture of the Gonja State.

The Park Manager explained that the gift is to signify that the park is working to safeguard the tradition and culture of the Gonjas in the park’s pursuit of safeguarding wildlife.

He also asked that God guides the king, his elders and chief’s who will be helping the king to be able to see to the peace, unity and harmony of the kingdom.

Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) thanked the staff of the park for their inspiring visit and for the good works they are doing for the Gonja State.
