St. Monica’s Junior High School Wins Brain Battle Quiz 2021 Savannah Regional Championship

St. Monica’s Junior High School from Sawla in the Sawla Tuna Kalba district of the Savannah region has won this year’s Brain Battle Quiz contest held on Thursday 5th August, 2021 in the Savannah regional capital, Damongo.

Brain Battle Quiz is a National inter-junior high Schools Science Technology , Mathematics, stem TV Quiz competition which featured nine (9) selected schools in the Savannah region. The schools included, St. kizito Block A JHS from Bole, St. Monica’s JHS from Sawla, Cathedral JHS from Damongo, St. Kizito Block B JHS from Bole, St. Anne’s Block A JHS from Damongo, St. Maria Gorettie JHS from Tuna, St. Anne’s Block B JHS from Damongo, St. Peter’s JHS from Tuna and St. John’s JHS from Tuna.

The above schools were grouped into three which saw St. Anne’s Block A JHS , St. Monica’s JHS and St kizito Block A JHS qualifying to the final stage from groups A, B and C respectively.

St. Monica’s JHS scored 48.5 points to beat St. Anne’s block A JHS who scored 3.5 points and St. Kizito Block A JHS scoring zere (0) to emerge as winners of the competition which is the second edition to be organized across the country but the first in the Savannah region organized by the National Catholic Secretariat Education directorate in collaboration with cocktail media with the idea of developing a well skilled human capital for Ghana by empowering the young ones with practical skills that tap their future abilities.

144 Junior High schools in all the 16 regions are expected to participate in this competition across the country and St. Monica’s JHS will be representing the Savannah region where the overall winner will receive a branded trophy, Ten thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 10,000) worth of science equipment for the school and five hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 500) savings accounts, certificates and souvenirs for the contestants of the winning school.

Officials who graced the event were Very Rv. Fr. Martin Muosayir, Vicar General for the Damongo Diocese who represented the Bishop of Damongo Diocese, Mr Raphael Lieber who is the Savannah regional Manager of the Catholic Education unit and Mr. Jatuat Kpirika , PRO for the Savannah regional education directorate, who represented the regional director of Education.
