The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region has issued a stern warning to stakeholders, urging them to call the MP for Bole-Bamboi, Hon. Yussif Sulemana Ore, to order for his alleged “backsliding and ascerbic attitude towards peace in the region.”
The NPP’s Regional Secretary, Mohammed Issah, voiced serious concerns about the MP’s conduct, accusing him of instigating violence and destabilizing the political climate ahead of the December 2024 elections.
Mr. Issah highlighted a viral audio recording in which the MP is allegedly heard promoting violence and hostility. He also accused the MP of inciting NDC youth to stage a protest against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his visit to the Jakpa Palace last year.
Mr. Issah made the allegations against the Bole MP in a press conference held at Damongo on Thursday 19th September, 2024, painting a picture of growing tensions in the region, with the NPP criticizing the MP’s lack of development initiatives for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency.
According to Issah, Hon. Ore’s alleged alignment with former President John Dramani Mahama, who hails from the region, has resulted in stagnation. The NPP called for the replacement of the MP with Raphael Kumah Abolasom, a younger candidate with what they described as fresh and pragmatic ideas.
He stressed that the NPP remains committed to peace but warned that any continued provocation from the NDC would not be tolerated and therefore calling on security agencies, traditional leaders, religious groups, and civil society to address the situation before it escalates further.
The press conference underscored the NPP’s position that they will not allow the peace of the region to be jeopardized by the NDC ahead of the December elections.
The Savannah Region, a critical battleground in the upcoming elections, is expected to be closely contested as both the NDC and NPP prepare for a decisive vote in December 2024.
The NPP regional secretary also took the opportunity to tout the achievements of the Nana/Bawumia government, pointing to improvements in infrastructure, decentralization, job creation, and social programs in the Savannah Region.
