Elorm Coffie Cudjo, a staff of the National Investment Bank at Sawla in the sawla Tuna Kalba District of the savannah Region is in the custody of the Sawla District police command for allegedly kidnapping and taking hostage of a 14years old girl.

The 35 years old Cashier/Teller is reported to have allegedly kidnapped and locked up the 14-year-old girl for three days in his rented room.
The victim went missing for three days after leaving home to hawk food stuffs in the Sawla township.

Information reaching this source indicates that, announcements made on radio stations and at local information centres within Sawla yielded no results and that, the family of the victim had to embarked on a door to door search in the Sawla township only to find the sandals of the victim at the doorsteps of Elorm Coffie Cudjo with his door locked.

The whereabout of Cudjo was asked from his co-tenants only to be told he had left for work. He was brought from work and ordered to open the door for a search but he resisted and claimed he had lost the keys to his room. The family got alarmed and involved the Sawla police who led them to break into the room where the 14years victim was found lying in the room restless and unconscious.

The victim was rushed to the Sawla polyclinic for medical examination and the offender( Elorm Coffie Cudjo) arrested to assist the police with investigations.
The case has been referred to Tamale for trial at the Tamale high Court instead of the Bole magistrate court due to pressure on both the police and that of the family of the 14 year old victim by some stakeholders in the Sawla township to withdraw the case for out of police custody settlement to safeguard the job of the offender who is a staff of the Sawla ADB branch.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday 16th September, 2021 at the Tamale high Court but the victim took ill and collapsed at the court premises and was rushed to the Tamale Teaching hospital. The culprit has been remanded into police custody and court hearing adjourned to Thursday 23rd September, 2021.
