FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Day 3 of Savanna Regional Minister’s Engagement with Development partners

The third day of the Savanna Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribe’s official engagement with key development partners continued today with a series of high-level meetings aimed at driving development and industrialization in the region.

The day commenced with a strategic dialogue between the Regional Minister’s team and top CEOs in the private sector, focusing on the industrial transformation of the Savanna Region through agribusiness. The CEOs commended Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribe Esq for his visionary leadership, particularly in mobilizing Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to prioritize regional development. They described his approach as unprecedented, praising his proactive leadership in spearheading a development-focused agenda.

Among the key initiatives discussed was the revitalization of the Daboya Weaving Centre, earmarked for a comprehensive facelift to enhance industrial activities in North Gonja. Additionally, the Buipe Market and the Black Volta River were highlighted as critical areas for infrastructural and economic development.

The Minister also visited the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, where he advocated for the enhancement of the region’s untapped tourism potential. He assured the sector minister that a detailed proposal outlining tourism investment opportunities in the region is being finalized.

At the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, the sector minister expressed commitment to establishing regional and district-level offices, with the Savanna Region under consideration. This initiative is aimed at bringing science and technology services closer to local communities.

Salisu Bia-Awurbe with Chinese Ambassador

In a diplomatic engagement at the Chinese Embassy, Hon. Be-awuribe lauded the People’s Republic of China for their remarkable development trajectory. He appealed for scholarship opportunities for youth from the Savanna Region to study science, technology, and agriculture—areas critical to the region’s development. He also encouraged Chinese investors to consider agribusiness investments in the Savanna Region, which boasts the largest arable land in Ghana and holds vast potential for commercial farming.

The day’s engagements concluded with a visit to the National Ambulance Service for bilateral discussions on enhancing emergency healthcare services in the region.

These series of engagements mark a renewed push by the Savanna Regional Coordinating Council led by Hon. Salisu Be-awuribi to attract investment, improve infrastructure, and uplift the livelihoods of the people in the region.
