Mr Francis Mumuni Mbonwura, the Savannah regional director of education has launched the one laptop – one teacher program in Damongo on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Francis Mumuni Mbonwura explained that the launch signifies the beginning of distribution of the laptops to one thousand, one hundred and forty three (1,143) Junior High School teachers across the Savannah region.
Each district or municipal assembly will have a center, so the region is expected to have at least seven (7) distribution centers for the program.

Francis Mumuni Mbonwura appealed to the teachers in the region to use the laptops for their intended purpose to help improve teaching and learning in the Savannah region.

Ake Ferguson, the West Gonja municipal education director, received the the laptops from the regional director and assured that all teachers within the municipality will get their laptops.

The Public Relations Officer of the Savannah regional education directorate Jatuat Kpiirika on the sidelines after a short ceremony held said the Savannah took delivery of the 1,143 laptops and efforts will be made to distribute them to all Junior High School teachers in all the seven districts in the region.

When asked when the Primary and Kindagarten teachers will be receive their laptops, Jetuat couldn’t give actual date but said once they receive the laptops from the national office, the school teachers will be duly informed.

The national launch was done in the year 2021 by the Hon. Minister of education and immediately followed by the distribution of the Laptops to Senior High School Teachers across the country.

The Savannah region benefited from that package, with a total number of Seven Hundred and Twenty Eight (728) laptops to all the teachers at SHS.

Teachers are expected to visit their centers with any national ID, registered and staff numbers to pick their laptops.

The TM1 laptops came handy with technical specifications equivalent to an i3, 500GB of HDD and 4gb of RAM.
