Savannah Region Commences 2024 BECE with 6,181 Candidates

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for 2024 has on Monday, 8th July, 2024commenced across the Savannah Region, marking a significant milestone for the region’s educational sector.

A total of 6,181 candidates, comprising 3,130 boys and 3,051 girls, have registered for the examinations, which are being conducted in various districts and municipalities.

District Breakdown of Registered Candidates:

  1. Bole:
  • Boys: 626
  • Girls: 719
  • Total: 1,345
  1. Central Gonja:
  • Boys: 602
  • Girls: 517
  • Total: 1,119
  1. East Gonja Municipal:
  • Boys: 549
  • Girls: 515
  • Total: 1,064
  1. North East Gonja:
  • Boys: 187
  • Girls: 144
  • Total: 331
  1. North Gonja:
  • Boys: 250
  • Girls: 198
  • Total: 448
  1. Sawla Tuna-Kalba:
  • Boys: 511
  • Girls: 536
  • Total: 1,047
  1. West Gonja Municipal:
  • Boys: 405
  • Girls: 422
  • Total: 827

Examination Centres:

To accommodate the candidates, 25 examination centres have been established across the region. The distribution of centres is as follows:

  1. Bole:
  • Bole SHS A, B, and C
  • St. Anthony of Padua SHS A and B
  • Total Centres: 5
  1. Central Gonja:
  • Buipe Vocational/Technical A and B
  • Yapei Presby
  • Yapei Francis Xavier SHS
  • Mpaha Community SHS
  • Total Centres: 5
  1. East Gonja Municipal:
  • Salaga SHS A and B
  • Salaga TI Ahmadiyya SHS A and B
  • Total Centres: 4
  1. North East Gonja:
  • Kpalbe Islamic JHS
  • Total Centres: 1
  1. North Gonja:
  • Daboya Community Day SHS A and B
  • Total Centres: 2
  1. Sawla Tuna-Kalba:
  • Sawla Girls Vocational JHS
  • Sawla SHS
  • Tuna SHTS A and B
  • Kulmasa R/C JHS
  • Total Centres: 5
  1. West Gonja Municipal:
  • Damongo SHS A and B
  • Busunu D/A JHS
  • Total Centres: 3

The examinations, which are pivotal for junior high school students, will determine their progression to senior high school. The Savannah Region’s education authorities have expressed optimism about the smooth conduct of the exams and the preparedness of the candidates.
