The recent heavy down pour experienced in and around Damongo and it’s surrounding communities has caused the mognori river to over flood it’s banks, thereby restricting vehicular movement to and from.
Vehicles transporting travellers and goods from farms and other products to mole, Damongo and other surrounding communities on the Mole and the Larabanga stretch, were seen stranded along the bank of the Mognori river unable to cross due to the over flooding of the river.
This was brought to light when the West Gonja Municipal National Disaster Management Organization Director Bavug Adam picked some intelligent that people and goods from communities such as Bawena, Kaden, Murugu and the rest are unable to cross to Mognori and other communities since the bridge is submerged by floodwaters.
According to him the development pose much risk to the residents of the Mognori community since further rains might westen the situation with the possibility of water flooding some near by houses.
Also those that travel to Damongo to access healthcare might have complication Since most of them are usually in the night and will not have anyone to carry him or her across.
He therefore advice residents close to the river bank to move to higher grounds and be extra vigilant to guide their life’s and properties from further distraction.
Since more rains are still expected in these month of August.
