The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party NPP Dr Mahammudu Bawumia has commenced the renovation works on the Jakpa Palace few days after his visit to the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom Yagbonwura Bi Kunuto Jewu Soale I at his current temporal residence.
It will be recalled that, the Vice president of the Republic of Ghana Who double’s as the Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party has been embarking on a nation wide thank you tour after emerging as the winner of the just end NPP delegates elections.
The tour offers him the first time opportunity to interact with Chiefs, supporters of New Patriotic Party and the general public across the country shortly after his successful election as the Flagbearer and leader of the New Patriotic Party.
Dr Bawumia during his visit to the Overlord at his temporal residence declared his plan intention of renovating the Jakpa Palace to be fit the status of the Gonja King.
This gesture according to him is for the love he has for the Gonja Kingdom as well as the long standing relationship that existed between him and the Overlord since his days as the Tuluwewura to today as the King of Gonjaland and that it is also to show his appreciation to the Gonja King for his constant prayers for him as a Vice president and now a Flagbearer and that through the prayers and support of the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom he by the Grace of Allah will become the president of Ghana come 2025.
According to him, the current place where the king resides is not condusive enough for the king, hence his plans to fast track the renovation of the Jakpa Palace.
The Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor re-intreted the commitment of the NPP Flagbearer towards the development and the well being of Gonjaland throughout his political journey as the Vice president and now the Flagbearer and that it will continue when Inshallah Dr Bawumia becomes the President in 2025.
The Damongo legislature also pledged his commitment to insuring the full realization of the renovation project promised by the Flagbearer of the NPP.
