The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and Minister designate for Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, on Thursday, 15th February, 2024 led the commissioning of a new regional office edifice for the NHIA in the Savannah region marking a significant milestone for healthcare infrastructure in the region.
In addition to the newly commissioned office edifice, the NHIA CEO also handed over a brand new Toyota Hilux pick-up to the Central Gonja office of the NHIA to facilitate their operations in the District.
In his welcome address, Chief Dauda Mahama, the Savannah regional Director of the NHIA, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NHIA for providing the region with such a vital infrastructure and assured that the office would be well-maintained to serve the community effectively.
Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibriel, the Savannah Regional Minister, emphasized the importance of healthcare services to the region’s populace and highlighted the office’s role as a central hub for coordinating and implementing health insurance policies, ensuring equitable access to healthcare.
Acknowledging challenges faced by the NHIA in the region, including staffing and vehicle shortages in specific districts in the region, Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibriel appealed to the NHIA management for assistance.
He also urged for administrative changes on the Kpandai District to better serve the region’s healthcare needs.
Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, CEO of the NHIA expressed gratitude to the government and local authorities for their support in realizing the project.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to healthcare accessibility, citing increased funding and improved payment systems to healthcare facilities.
Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye during the event also launched the NHIA Experience Stand initiative, aimed at addressing complaints and issues promptly within healthcare facilities.
This initiative according to the NHIA CEO, is aimed to enhance customer service and resolve grievances efficiently.
Damongowura Seidu Kelly Braimah in a statement read on his behalf by the youth chief of Damongo, chief Soale Jaga expressed appreciation to the NHIA for their contribution to healthcare and development in the region.
The commissioning of the new regional office edifice signifies a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure and accessibility in the Savannah region, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services nationwide.
The event was chaired by the Savannah regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Josephat Ana-Imwine Nyuzaghl and attended by the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, traditional authorities, staff of the NHIA and heads of departments.
