The 2022/23 Northern Regional Football Association’s Division Two League match day five (5) games for ‘Zone 5B’ were honored at the Damongo astro turf on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
Table toppers Mole Nationals fc demolished Yagbon fc with a 5-1 score to record their fourth consecutive win in the zone.
Goals by Yussif Rayan, Shaibu Hadi,
Dawuda Rafiwu, Ibrahim Mawaizu (OG), and
Soale Hakim did the trick whilst Adam Elham scored the consolation goal for Yagbon fc
This victory keeps Mole Nationals on top of the table with 12 points and assure an 100% campaign, winning all the four matches played so far.
Yagbon fc on the other hand are yet to record a win since the start of the season in late January 2023.
The opening game of the day saw Wasipey Utd beat host Ndewura Jakpa Savannah fc by a lone goal. The goal was scored by Issahak Gafaru in the second half.
This is Wasipey Utd’s first victory after losing all previous matches.
The much awaited Laribanga derby between Savannah RFC and Nanumba Soccer Boys couldn’t come off due to the fact that Savannah RFC pulled out of the competition.
The two fixtures were played on the same day because of the 7th day funeral rites of the late King of Gonja state, Yagbonwura Tutumba Boresa I. The funeral rites will be performed today at Damongo.
