Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection Helpline of Hope Campaign Launched in Savannah Region

In a bid to combat social issues such as human trafficking, child labor, and domestic violence, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has launched the Helpline of Hope Campaign in the Savannah Region. The initiative aims to provide a lifeline for victims and concerned citizens, offering support and assistance through a toll-free helpline.

The campaign, set to commence on March 3rd, 2024, heralds a significant step towards promoting social protection programs in the region. With the establishment of the Helpline of Hope Call Center, individuals are encouraged to report cases of abuse, exploitation, and other social issues, ensuring that no one suffers in silence.

“The Helpline of Hope Call Center is a beacon of support for those in need,” stated Mr. Ziblim Abdul Mumeen, the Savannah Regional Information Officer. “We urge citizens to utilize this vital resource responsibly and avoid prank calls, as every genuine report contributes to safeguarding our communities.”

The initiative comes as part of a broader effort to raise awareness and increase the utilization of social protection services in the region. Supported by the World Bank, the campaign targets communities in five Municipal and District Assemblies in the Savannah Region, namely; East Gonja and West Gonja municipal assemblies, Sawla Tuna Kalba, Bole, and North East Gonja districts.

Mr Ziblim Mumeen indicated that the Helpline of Hope Campaign aim to empower communities and strengthen mechanisms for grievance redress.

Through this initiative, we seek to provide timely support to victims of abuse and ensure that their voices are heard.”

The Helpline of Hope Call Center, equipped on toll-free numbers and multilingual support, serve as a central point for citizens to lodge complaints and seek assistance. Trained call agents will utilize the Unified Grievance Redress System to register and classify cases, directing them to relevant social protection programs for resolution.

Adding that by collaborating and leveraging technology a meaningful impact in safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals.

In addition to raising awareness, the campaign includes distribution of information materials to enhance understanding and facilitate reporting, community engagement initiatives to reinforce the importance of the Helpline of Hope in combating social issues and promoting a culture of accountability and support.

As the Helpline of Hope Campaign kicks off in the Savannah Region, stakeholders are encouraged to join hands in advocating for social justice and protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
