The paramount Chief of the Mankpan traditional area, Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi (I) has declared an educational scholarship scheme for best outstanding BECE student of the just ended 2022 Basic education certification examination ( BECE ).

Iddrisu Adam Afuli

Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor – Ade Borenyi ( I ) disclosed this in a speech read on his behalf by his Acting Secretary, Mr. Iddrisu Adam Afuli on Tuesday, 25th October,2022 during the 2022 Mankpan Damba celebrations held at Mankpan.

Mankpanwura explained that, the education of children within the Mankpan traditional area has been a nightmare for him ever since he ascended to the throne of Mankpan hence the need to implement policies to help motivate children in the area to reach the higher heights of the educational lather.

He noted that, Education stands paramount in the development of every nation and so, the sad state of education in the Mankpan Traditional Area cannot be overlooked and therefore appealed to the Savannah Regional Directorate of Education through the Savannah Regional Minister and all well meaning stakeholders in the educational sector to join hands to revive education in the area by posting more committed and willing teachers and other educational facilities to enhance the level of education in the Mankpan traditional area.

He expressed his dissatisfactions over the poor educational performance in the traditional area which according to him, saddens his heart and therefore calling for urgent steps to address the situation before the future of their children becomes bleak.

He also used the occasion of the Damba to appeal to the educational elites of Mankpan to advocate for NGO’s and other developmental organizations to assist Mankpan to see the needed development.

The Mankpan paramount chief said his doors are opened to the sons and daughters of Mankpan both in Ghana and the International front to share with the traditional area their knowledge, technical expertise and above all their collaborations and networks towards the development of Mankpan.

He also called on the chiefs and the community members to protect and promote peace in the traditional area and the Savannah Region at large as peace is a huge investment to embark on.

Damba is a unifying festival among all persons in Gonjaland as it is one of the most significant traditional festivals the people of the Savannah Region hold in high esteem.

It serves as a platform for social interaction where developmental decisions are taken to champion the agender of general development must be taken seriously to promote the desirable time-tested tradition and culture of the Gonja Kingdom.
