Mr. Abdul Sammed Adams Gurundari, well known in the show biz industry as Big Samzy has explained that industry players cannot be blamed for the poor level of growth in the Savannah region’s entertainment industry because entertainment is an industry and not just an event where we need one thing to solve the whole problem. Each person has a role to play. And one must ask themselves, do we play our roles as expected?
Soundzy was responding to a question posed by Anna ‘B’ of PADFM 95.1mhz on whether music in Savannah region can grow with the current behaviour of the industry players.

He further stated that we all need to work harder by playing our roles well for the industry to rise and compete with others. Call yourself a musician when you’ve made a great profession out of music.

Promoters think they are doing the right thing, artists think they are doing the right thing but this is killing us slowly and won’t allow the industry to grow unless we all change our ways of doing things and collaborate with one another, change of character is all what we need, he emphatically stated.

Invitation of industry players such as journalists, bloggers, presenters to organized events is very vital because they need to witness, write, discuss, blog and share to spread the news.

Gurundari recounted how things have changed overtime because in the past, DJs run after musicians for songs.

“Gone were the days when Gonjaland DJs run after Gonja musicians. Now the media run after the successful musicians and the upcoming musicians must run after the media. That is the trend of the entertainment industry of today world”.

Artist must learn and improve on how to approach bloggers, DJs, presenters and more to help push and sell his or her hard work across board. They should try to make the industry players as their friends, adopt good communication skills and play well with them.

Choosing to share your new projects on WhatsApp platforms rather than blogging in the 21st century is totally unacceptable.

Amadu Abdul Mumin, a sound engineer and a blogger popular known as “Mr Phresh” added that, most of the problems occur due to lack of knowledge on role play by each member of a record label. He emphasized that, duties must be shared among team members to make the work easier and faster.

Artists shouldn’t forget they can never pay the media. Just give them the maximum respect to get what you want from them.

“You can never crap the attention of the media by creating unnecessary noise or criticism around the the job you do.”
