Green for Change Ghana (GCG), a leading environmental and sustainable development organization, has been recognized on the continental stage after winning the African Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience Organization of the Year Award at the International Business Achiever Awards (IBAA 2026).

The award, organized by M-Gibes College UK, was presented at the British Council in Accra and was received on behalf of the organization by its Executive Director, John Balankoo Sumbo.
The recognition celebrates Green for Change Ghanaโs outstanding contributions to climate action, environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community development across Ghana.
Over the years, the organization has implemented a range of interventions aimed at addressing environmental challenges while improving the socio-economic wellbeing of vulnerable communities. Its work spans landscape restoration, climate-smart agriculture, natural resource management, active citizenship, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable development initiatives.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Sumbo described the recognition as a testament to the collective efforts of the organizationโs staff, volunteers, development partners, donors, government institutions, traditional authorities, and beneficiary communities.
โThis award belongs to every individual and institution that has supported our vision of building environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient communities. It reflects the commitment and hard work of our staff, volunteers, partners, and the communities we serve,โ he said.
According to him, the award serves as motivation for the organization to intensify its efforts in delivering innovative and community-driven solutions to environmental and climate-related challenges.
โReceiving this recognition strengthens our resolve to continue promoting climate resilience, restoring degraded ecosystems, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and empowering communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change,โ he added.
Green for Change Ghana has become increasingly recognized for its work in supporting rural communities to adopt sustainable environmental practices while improving food security, income generation, and resilience to climate-related shocks.
The organization also collaborates with local authorities, development agencies, and community groups to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable resource management.
Management of Green for Change Ghana expressed appreciation to M-Gibes College UK for the recognition and extended gratitude to all partners and supporters who continue to contribute to the organization’s success.
The award further positions Green for Change Ghana as one of Africaโs emerging leaders in environmental sustainability and climate resilience, reinforcing its commitment to creating lasting positive change for both people and the planet.
As climate change continues to pose significant challenges to communities across Africa, the organization says it remains dedicated to advancing practical solutions that protect ecosystems, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to sustainable development for future generations.
