The Gembe family from the Dange Gate,
in the Damongo Traditional area led by Dolipewura Isaac Dramami Jamani, along with Bakari, Sulemana, Damongo Wuriche and Hajia Amina Bampe Wuriche at press conference on Sunday, 21st April, 2024 have officially withdrawn their membership from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Damongo, Savannah Region.
According to them, their decision comes amidst growing concerns over the involvement of Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jebril, in chieftaincy affairs in Damongo.
The catalyst for this withdrawal was the illegal enskinment of Chief Sakara from the Lermu Gate as Kulasewura, a title traditionally belonging to the Dange’s gate.
The Gembe Family presented evidence of the Savannah Regional Minister’s support for this illegal enskinment, citing his presence alongside a combined force of police and military during the ceremony.
They stated that, they have revealed communications indicating the Minister’s prior knowledge and endorsement of the event, despite a ban on all forms of enskinment by the West Gonja Municipal Security Council.
Critically, the Gembe Family questioned the Minister’s role, asking whether he serves as Chairman of the Savannah Regional Security Council or as a chieftaincy contractor.
They also raised concerns about the Minister’s interference in the mandate of the Municipal Security Council and his use of police forces, members of the Municipal Security Council, to provide security for the enskinment.
Despite their withdrawal from the NPP, the Gembe Family emphasized that the conflict between the Dangepe and Chief Sakara persists, exacerbated by the Minister’s support.
The Gembe Family concluded by calling upon the security forces, particularly the police and military, to uphold their mandate with neutrality and refrain from interference in chieftaincy matters.
They reiterated their rejection of Chief Sakara Jakpa’s enskinment and formally announced their departure from the NPP, invoking blessings for the legacy of Ndewura Jakpa Sulemana.
Signed by Dolipewura Isaac Dramami Jamani, the press conference underscored the family’s determination to uphold their traditions and principles.
Meanwhile the Savannah regional Minister and Chairman of the Regional Security council ( REGSEC ) in a phone interview on the matter expressed bewilderment at the allegations, labeling them as “false” and insinuating a hidden agenda behind the accusations.
Despite assuming responsibility for the situation, the REGSEC chairman and Regional Minister for the Savannah Region emphasized that no instructions were given to security forces to intervene or provide security on behalf of any group.

PRESS CONFERENCE
WE, THE GEMBE FAMILY FROM THE DANGE GATE SPEARHEADED BY DOLIPEWURA ,BAKARI, SULEMANA,DAMONGO WURICHE AND HAJIA AMINA BAMPE WURICHE REGRETS TO WITHDRAW FROM NPP IN DAMONGO:
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we entire Family of the Gembe from the Dange Gate spearheaded by Dolipewura, Bakari, Sulemana, Damongo Wuriche and Hajia Amina Bampe Wuriche, henceforth withdraw our membership from the New Patriotic Party, NPP in Damongo in Savannah Region.
Our decision stems from the continue involvement of the Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jebril in our Chieftaincy affairs in Damongo.
This is because a young man in town by name Chief Sakare from the Lemu gate was on Saturday, 20th April, 2024 illegally enskined himself as Kulasewura which title is not for his gate but the Dange’s gate.
This illegal exercise (enskinment) received a full backing of the Savannah Regional Minister Saeed Muhazu with the present of a combine police and military including both Savannah Regional and West Gonja Municipal Police Commanders.
The press, we also have on records of a former Teacher of DASS by name Chief Alancha on 17th April, sat at Mahama’s Guest House here in Damongo and called the Savannah Regional Minister telling him to provide them with heavy security present on Saturday and the Minister told him that he was on top of things and that he should not worry.
Ladies and gentlemen of the Media ,all these are not just conjunction because we have impeccable evidence to back them.
Also, Mr. Saeed Muhazu did not just stop there, he went ahead to walk his talk and between Thursday and Friday this week, met and instructed the Savannah Regional and West Gonja Municipal Police Commanders to provide security for the said enskinment which goes contrary to the ban placed on all forms of enskinment by the West Gonja Municipal Security Council.
We further got information that the Minister told the two Commanders that he was to leave town and switched off his mobile phones but they should make sure they carried out the exercise to the latter.
He therefore went ahead and left Damongo because when we called him, his lines were truly switched off and also the security carried his instructions.
The press, though regrettable, our withdrawal from the party doesn’t stop the conflicts between Dangepe and Chief Sakare for trespassing with the aide of the Regional Minister.
The questions we beg to ask Mr. Saeed Muhazu Jebril are,
1) Is he still the Chairman of the Savannah Regional Security Council or a Chieftaincy contractor?
2) Why are you using the Police who are members of MUSEC that banned all enskinment in Damongo, to continue to provide security for enskinment?
3) Why is Saeed Muhazu interfering the mandate of MUSEC?.
We therefore call on the Security, especially the Police and Military to stay clear on their mandate of providing security with neutrality.
As stated earlier, above gate doesn’t recognize the self and state backed enskinment of Chief Sakare Jakpa.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we once again, unequivocally state here, and on records that, the Gembe Family and from the Dange’s gate withdraw our loyalty and support from the New Patriotic Party with immediate effect.
May Allah bless and protect the legacy of Ndewura Jakpa Sulemana.
Thank you for coming.
