The Regional Security council Chairman and Regional Minister for Savannah Region, Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibriel in a response to a press statement by the Gempe family, has vehemently denied accusations of bias amidst escalating tensions in the Damongo chieftaintcy disputes.

Hon. Muhazu Jibriel asserted REGSEC’s commitment to neutrality in the ongoing matter and disclaimed any involvement in directing military or police support to any faction.

In a phone interview on the matter, the REGSEC chairman expressed bewilderment at the allegations, labeling them as “false” and insinuating a hidden agenda behind the accusations.

Despite assuming responsibility for the situation, the REGSEC chairman and Regional Minister for the Savannah Region emphasized that no instructions were given to security forces to intervene or provide security on behalf of any group and that, it was done at the blindside of he, the regional Minister.

Meanwhile the regional Minister has urged journalists and the general public to conduct thorough investigations into the matter, refuting claims of secret meetings with the regional police commander.

He further clarified that the police commander in question was not present in Damango during the alleged period of interaction, challenging the authenticity of the accusations.

Addressing concerns over REGSEC’s role in the Damongo chieftaintcy dispute, Mr. Saeed clarified that REGSEC only intervenes upon formal requests from affected MUSECs or DISECs and emphasized their commitment to impartiality.

The Savannah Regional Minister and REGSEC Chairman concluded with a condemnation of the reported police support for one faction over another, condemning it as a breach of trust and integrity and further vowed to address the issue within the framework of REGSEC’s mandate and uphold their commitment to fairness and justice.

As tensions continue to simmer, the veracity of these allegations and the role of REGSEC in the region remain subjects of intense scrutiny and debate.

Stay tuned for further developments as the situation unfolds.
