The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that elections to elect Regional Representatives to the Council of State will take place on Tuesday, 11th February 2025. The announcement, made in a press release issued on 22nd January, follows Paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution.
Qualified individuals interested in contesting for the position are required to submit their nomination forms from Tuesday, 28th January, to Friday, 31st January 2025. Submission hours are between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily, at the offices of the Regional Directors of the Electoral Commission in their respective regions.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Submission of completed nomination forms in triplicate, along with two recent passport-sized photographs against a red background.
• Nomination by two registered voters in the region.
• Support from twenty additional registered voters in the same region.
• Written consent to the nomination.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the EC’s official website at www.ec.gov.gh.
The elections will be conducted in all regional capitals, with specific venues to be determined and communicated by the Commission.
