The poor lighting system in Damongo township will soon be over with 200 streetlights secured by the West Gonja municipal assembly and the Damongo MP.

The municipal assembly secured 100 streetlights and Damongo MP also secured 100, making up a total of 200 for use in Damongo and surrounding communities.

The Hon. MCE for West Gonja municipal assembly, Mr. Musah Kusubari Karim disclosed this on the Friday edition of “What’s It” morning show on Damongo based Community Radio station, PAD FM 95.1mhz.

Mr Kusubari Karim explained that paper works are almost completed and one Bakuri, an expert based in Damongo is expected to lead a team to fix the streetlights.

He added that extension of electricity to Sori number 1, 2 and 3 is on course and hopes the chiefs and people of these communities will celebrate the new year with electricity.

On water, Mr Musah Kusubari reiterated his resolve to get the Broto water project done in January 2022 to help reduce the mass sufferage of the people with regards to water most especially, the dry season in the area.

The controversy surrounding the major Damongo water project still lingers on after president Akuffo-Addo cut sod for the construction of the water project in July 2020.
Since then, there is no feasible and physical works with regards to the project.

The Hon MCE assured that at all cost the Damongo water project will start in 2022 and the water crises in Damongo will be solved forever.

The Hon MCE said the assembly will be constructing 6-unit classroom block at Yagbon school and a Vocational school in Damongo, some some blocks will be constructed in the canteen electoral area and other areas within the Municipality.

He said a meeting has been held together with Social Welfare department and PWD leaders to agree on modalities for the distribution.

Musah Kusubari disclosed that the office of the Damongo constituency MP, Abu Jinapor has put up a nice pavilion to serve as a temporal health facility at Abramanikura, a farming settlement located few meters away from Murugu township.
The assembly is working closely with the MP to get them a school because their population is growing.
