Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo, has donated five motorbikes and ten bicycles to pensioners in the constituency.
The donation, aimed at improving the mobility and well-being of the pensioners, was presented to the leadership of the pensioners on Wednesday, 4th September, 2024 by Mr. Kadiri Abdul Rahman, the constituency secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The initiative according to Mr. Rahman, is part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to support the elderly, recognizing the mobility and exercise challenges many pensioners face.
Mr. Rahman explained that the motorbikes and bicycles would not only enhance the pensioners’ ability to move around but also encourage physical activity, especially for those who struggle with walking due to age-related difficulties.
Samuel Abu Jinapor, who also serves as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has long been committed to the welfare of his constituents. This donation is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of various groups in Damongo, including the elderly, youth and vulnerable populations.
The leadership of the pensioners has expressed their gratitude for the gesture. Many noted that the bicycles, in particular, would provide them with opportunities to stay active and independent despite their age.
The donation is expected to have a significant impact on the well-being of the elderly in the area, providing them with reliable means of transportation while promoting their overall health.
Mr. Rahman disclosed that the MP is working towards enrolling over 100 pensioners from Damongo into the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program, which offers financial support to vulnerable groups.
He urged the constituents to continue supporting Samuel Abu Jinapor as he seeks a second mandate to serve as their MP.
