12th August, 2025.

Damongo – Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, the Headmaster of Ndewura Jakpa SHS in Damongo has supported the school’s sanitation and hygiene initiative by donating dustbins (waist bins) to each of the school’s six (6) houses.

Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, who stood proudly in front of his students and staff at the Headmaster’s Assembly on Monday 12th August, 2025, commended the staff and students for the zeal to keep NDESCO clean. He noted that as the school competes to improve academic excellence, they must not forget to keep a clean environment.

” As we strive for excellence in academics, we mustn’t forget the importance of keeping our environment clean. Our school is not just a place of learning, but also a home for all of us. Let’s work together to keep it clean and beautiful.”

The headmaster’s initiative will not only improve the school’s physical environment but also, inspire a sense of ownership and pride among the students and staff. It will serve as a place where students could thrive, learn, and grow in a clean and beautiful environment.

The excited students cheered and clapped as the Headmaster’s initiative came to life with each of the six house prefects, taking possession of the dustbins.
The NDESCO community houses are Kurabaso house, Timu house, Kanyiti house, and Awushi house.
The rest are Lermu house, Gbenyiti house.

NDESCO had previously struggled with litter and waste management. And the initiative will encourage students and staff alike to dispose of their trash properly to help keep the school clean.

The students took pride in their school, and the staff were impressed by the headmaster’s commitment to creating a healthy and sustainable environment.

The availability of these dustbins will spark a chain of positive change, demonstrating that even small actions could make a big difference.

As part of the good works of the Headmaster since he came to NDESCO, the Visual Arts department awarded the Headmaster with a portrait picture of him during a handing over ceremony of school prefects on 6th August, 2025 as an appreciation of his good leadership.
