The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has officially submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Damongo to seek re-election in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Accompanied by party sympathizers, as well as constituency and regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Jinapor filed his completed forms on Tuesday, 10th September, 2024.
Speaking to the media after filing his forms, Abu Jinapor expressed his commitment to continuing the development agenda for the Damongo constituency. He highlighted the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), emphasizing that the remaining months of the year will focus on road infrastructure improvements. “The next three months will be months of Roads,” he stated, assuring that significant progress will be made in paving and upgrading roads across the constituency.
Mr. Jinapor reaffirmed the NPP’s dedication to retaining the Damongo parliamentary seat, highlighting his achievements during his first tenure. “A lot of work has been done in agriculture, education, infrastructure, social amenities, and youth and women empowerment,” he noted, promising even greater efforts if re-elected.
For the second consecutive time, Mr. Jinapor is running unopposed as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Damongo.
In the 2020 elections, he made history by unseating the then-incumbent NDC MP, Adam Mutawakilu, who had held the seat since 2013.
The upcoming election promises to be a significant moment in Damongo’s political landscape, with Abu Jinapor aiming to solidify his influence and continue his development agenda for the constituency.
