World vision in partnership with Giving In Motion (GIM) on Tuesday, 18th April, 2023 commissioned a school facility at Asanbore, a farming community in the West Gonja municipality.
The community was excited to witness the commissioning of the New School building which is coupled with Water and Sanitation ( WASH ) facilities.
In a welcome address, the Regional Operations Manager for World vision, Mr Francis Gumah on behalf of the leadership of World vision applauded the team from GIM for their kind support and described the team as very special to the people of Asanbore.
He noted that, they were privileged to be in Asanbore to hand over to them such a newly built and well furnished school facility.
He also thanked their partners for coming down to know the Asanbore community, saying it is an evidence of the progress made in their work to a community where the have people living and receiving the blessings of partners.
In praising the partners, Mr Francis Gumah said if their brothers and sisters from the other part of the world are doing so well to help change and transform the lives of children, then a lot more people in the Ghanaian society needs to take up the responsibility to be able to contribute their quota towards the wellbeing of Children in their societies.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Akey Ferguson who was also at the community to grace the occasion said, he was surprised and at the same time grateful that their partners were able to locate the Asanbore Community before them to put up such a facility for the people.
He further expressed his gratefulness to World vision for the gesture, stating that it is in line with the purpose of the Ghana Education Service which has been working to make sure that every child of school going age is in school in order to not to leave anyone behind.
The Municipal Education Director also assured that, they at the Ghana Education Service with the support of the Municipal Assembly will provide all the necessary support to the community to make sure the children in the area are educated.
The Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari on his part stated that, the commissioning of the Asanbore school is timely and has met his dreams as he has always prayed and hoped that such facilities are extended to the area to help change the wellbeing of the people.
He appreciated the efforts of World vision for all that the have been doing in the municipality as a development partner and thanked them particularly for building a school in Asanbore.
He also explained that, it is the core responsibility of the Municipal Assembly to deliver to it’s people in areas such as education but unable to do so due to resource constraints and therefore expressed his excitement that one of their development partners ( World vision) shouldered part of their burden as an Assembly by providing water in the past and now a school block for the people of Asanbore.
The MCE used the occasion to plead with World vision to extend their benevolence to other adjourning communities in the area to help open them up for development.
The team leader for GIM and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Williams said they were proud to be part of such a wonderful ceremony in a community where their brothers and sisters at home are aware of and praying for and also expressed their excitement with the progress made so far in the Asanbore community through their efforts.
They recounted on their first visit to the community where it was disclosed in their discussions with the people that the community needed water and a school facility, which have delivered.
The team who were happy to see the children of Asanbore in school uniforms pleaded with them to stay in school and learn so as to become very useful people in their society.
The chief of the community, Sulemana Zakaria thanked Giving In Motion (GIM), World vision and their partners for their continuous support to the children in the Asanbore community and said, he is overwhelmed to have such a facility in the community and described the intervention as one that will lead their children to becoming future leaders.
