At this year’s Buipe Damba Festival, “BUDAFEST 2024,” His Royal Majesty Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, Paramount chief and President of the Buipe Traditional Council, made a strong appeal for peace as Ghana approaches the 2024 general elections.

“BUDAFEST” 2024 was climaxed on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in Buipe under the chairmanship of Nana Apenten Fosu Gyeabour Hansua – Hene of Techiman and witnessed by prominent figures and guests from across the country including Masaba Sarki Fanyinama II and professor Nuhu Ahmed Zakaria, CEO of the National Ambulance service, who was the Guest of Honour.

During his address read on his behalf by his secretary, Neripewura Panfia Kipson, Buipewura Jinapor II emphasized the need for unity and peace in Ghana, particularly in the northern regions.

He commended the two prominent northern politicians, former President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, both of whom are running for the presidency. He referred to them as “sons of the north” and praised their contributions to the nation’s political landscape.

The Buipewura also acknowledged the Jinapor brothers, John Jinapor and Abu Jinapor who, despite belonging to different political parties, engage in parliamentary debates focused on national development without resorting to insults or divisive rhetoric.

As the elections draw closer, with less than two months to go, Buipewura Jinapor II stressed that the outcome of the 2024 elections would be a victory not just for Ghana but for the northern regions as well.

He urged the people of the north to avoid being manipulated by politicians to cause disruptions, instead encouraging them to be ambassadors of peace.

His call for unity and the preservation of the country’s integrity resonated deeply with the audience, reminding them that they share a common destiny. Buipewura Jinapor II encouraged all Ghanaians, especially those from the northern region, to work towards ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent election on December 7, 2024.

He also urged the Electoral Commission of Ghana to uphold the nation’s democratic values by ensuring the election process is credible and transparent. Buipewura Jinapor II reiterated the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections, asserting that Ghana must continue to set a positive example in its democratic journey.

Buipewura Jinapor II has used “BUDAFEST” 2024 to set a hopeful tone for the upcoming elections, with the message of peace being central to the festival’s climax. It is expected that Ghana, once again, will demonstrate its commitment to democracy and unity.
