MTN Ghana has made a donation of baby hampers to seven (7) lucky mothers and their babies who were born on Christmas Day at the West Gonja municipal hospital (Damongo Hospital). The donation which forms part of MTN Ghana Foundation and employee volunteers contributions sees the need to support mothers, children born on Christmas Day and institutions to help the up keep of the babies at selected hospitals across the country.
The first Christmas Day baby girl was delivered at 8:04am on 25th December, 2021, to madam Zuleha Ibrahim.
Mr. Kwame Naporo, the MTN staff who made the presentation on behalf of MTN Ghana on Sunday, December 26, 2021, stated that
“Today is 26 of December and we all know this day is referred to as Boxing Day – a day Christians unwrap the gifts received during Christmas.
Mr Naporo added, MTN is also sharing in the Joy of the season and we are here on boxing day to show love to mothers of babies born on Christmas day.
As we speak MTN Ghana through it’s employee volunteers, is distributing baby hampers in all the 16 regions of Ghana. This year, we are distributing a total of 500 hampers at a cost of Ghc150,000 across the country.
Mr Naporo disclosed that MTN commenced the baby hamper distribution in 2011, and we have so far distributed 2,000 hampers including this year’s to babies born on Christmas Day. The donation is one of the many ways the MTN Ghana Foundation has catered for the health needs of several individuals and medical institutions across Ghana.
The project started with few regions however by the year 2020, all the 10 regions of Ghana have been included. Today, we are in all the 16 regions distributing the hampers.
MTN Ghana sees the occasion as a season of giving and also of love and in the midst of covid-19, MTN Ghana counts it very important to still reach out to our dear mothers and lovely baby bones on Christmas day to show them the MTN kind of love.
We congratulate the mothers and we use the occasion to wish our customers and stakeholders a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, enjoy the celebrations”.
Receiving the baby hampers on behalf of the mothers, babies born on Christmas Day and the Hospital’s maternity ward, Madam Joycelyn Y. Beyuo, a staff at the ward thanked MTN Ghana Foundation and staff for the kind gesture. She prayed for MTN Ghana and called for more from Ghana’s number one telecommunications network.
Madam Joycelyn Y. Beyuo appealed to all relevant stakeholders to come and support the ward and the pregnant women at the hospital to help in their upkeep.
Madam Mariam Abdulai, a nursing mother and a beneficiary expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the support. The happy Mariam said she never expected anything from anyone aside her family hence, very happy to receive the hampers from MTN Ghana.
